Description

This is the twelveth year for this fun and exciting event in Indian River. Come to compete or come just for the fun of it. Kayaking on the beautiful Indian River and biking on the North Central state trail makes for a great event.

Event details and schedule

  • The 12th Annual Kayak Bike Biathlon takes place on Sunday, July 21, 2019

from 9AM to 11AM. 

  • Check-in begins at 8 AM at DeVoe Public Beach in Indian River.

    The event is limited to the first 100 registered participants.

  • Participants enter for fun, fitness, and/or competition.

  • The course begins with 2.24 miles of kayaking on the beautiful and historic Inland Waterway (Burt Lake and the Indian River).

  • The course continues with 11.68 miles of bicycling on the scenic North Central State Trail, which is crushed lime-stone (not recommended for extremely narrow tires).

  • The start is at DeVoe Beach at 9AM.  The transition from kayaking to biking is also at DeVoe Beach.  The finish-line is near the Chamber of Commerce Building. Refreshments, awards, and prizes are back at DeVoe Beach.  The award ceremony begins at 11AM.

  • Registration includes free T-shirt and free refreshments.

  • Beautiful wood plaques will be awarded to the top finishers in each age/gender category.

  • All participants will have a chance to win up to $1000 in donated prizes.

  • All proceeds this year will go to the construction of the new Burt Lake Bike Trail and the grooming of the Wildwood Hills Pathway Cross Country Ski Trails.

  • Participants must provide bicycle and proper helmet.

  • Participants must provide kayak with paddle, and Coast Guard approved life-jacket .
